Muller dominates practice in Argentina
Yvan Muller blitzed the World Touring Car Championship's first official practice session in Argentina. The runaway championship leader, also quickest in Friday's pre-event test, went top after the first flyers and his Chevrolet was never displaced thereafter. With 10 minutes to run he underlined his dominance by slashing almost one second from his previous benchmark and dropping to a 1m49.096s, which was more than eight tenths faster than anyone else had managed.

Red Bull: no pressure to take junior
Red Bull says it is under no pressure to take one of its young drivers as Sebastian Vettel's team-mate next year, with Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso also in contention. Amid an increased focus on Red Bull's 2014 line-up, after it emerged in Hungary that Alonso's management held talks with its team boss Christian Horner, the reigning champion team is still considering its options. Video: Nissan had to re-edit this commercial two times to placate Aussie ad watchdog [w/poll]

Nissan recently aired a commercial in Australia for its Pulsar SSS hatchback - think of it as a five-door relative of our Sentra - in which a couple is seen hastily making their way to the hospital ahead of giving birth. But the ad you can watch now isn't the same ad that aired originally - in fact, Nissan had to re-edit the commercial twice before the Australian Advertising Standards Bureau (ASB) would accept it.
According to Go Auto, the original ad received complaints that it depicted unsafe and reckless driving, including speeding, following cars too closely and screeching to a halt upon arriving at the hospital. One of the complaints reportedly read: "The advertisement promotes driving behavior (rapid acceleration/deceleration/changes of direction) that is counter to sound medical advice regarding the carriage of heavily pregnant women in motor vehicles."
In the first edit, Nissan lowered the vehicle's engine noise, removed the woman's speech urging the man to drive faster ("Go, go, go!") and inserted a disclaimer that read "Filmed under controlled conditions," according to Go Auto, but all of that still wasn't enough to appease the ASB.
Nissan went back for some more editing, which resulted in the tamer commercial that's airing in Oz today. Nissan even removed extra shots to fit in slightly slow-motion video of the Pulsar driving, to be sure viewers don't think it's speeding. Even so, there's still an enjoyable hook to the ad - watch it by scrolling below.

Sato: F1 test to boost title hopes
Auto GP championship challenger Kimiya Sato believes the experience of testing for Sauber in Formula 1's young driver test last month will boost his title prospects. The 23-year-old Japanese lost his long held advantage in the drivers' standings after a first-lap retirement at Mugello last month, although he still shares the points lead and is behind Sergio Campana only on countback. Mercedes believes title battle wide open
Mercedes believes that the world championship battle has been blown open after Lewis Hamilton's victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Hamilton's dominance at the hot Hungaroring pointed to Mercedes having made a big breakthrough in its understanding of the tyres, which might have also been helped by the new Pirelli construction suiting its car better. Report: Last chance to order an R56 Mini Hardtop

Mini will be ending custom orders of the current R56 Cooper Hardtop ahead of the retooling process for the new F56 Mini. That means owners who aren't enamored with what they've seen of the model's new look (shown in the gallery below) but still want a personalized version of the tossable hot hatch had best get down to their local Mini dealership and submit their order post-haste.
According to Mini enthusiast site Motoringfile, all orders must be submitted by August 28 in order to get a custom build. Orders are also locked in after that, so if you do get one of the spots, make sure you're absolutely content with the car you order. This cutoff will affect all models of the Hardtop, including the John Cooper Works model.
After August 28, owners will need to wait for the new Hardtop to arrive, which Motoringfile estimates will be in March of 2014. If you miss out on this final allocation of hardtops, all is not lost, however. Mini will still accept personalized orders on other bodystyles, which won't be replaced by F56-based models for some time.

GTLM to remain open tyre formula
The GT Le Mans class in next year's merged United SportsCar Racing series will remain an open tyre formula, despite confirmation that the other three classes will run control rubber. The decision to allow competition between tyre manufacturers in GTLM, which as GT is fought out between Chevrolet, BMW, Chrysler/SRT, Ferrari, and Porsche in the American Le Mans Series, reflects a desire to allow the cars to compete in the same specification in which they will go to the Le Mans 24 Hours in June. Barozzini Scores World Championship Win at Indianapolis

Hunter-Reay leads Mid-Ohio test
Ryan Hunter-Reay claimed the fastest time on a rain-interrupted IndyCar test day at Mid-Ohio on Wednesday. Spy Shots: Next Kia Sedona minivan spied

After skipping the 2013 model year and returning for 2014, the Kia Sedona is getting a full redesign for 2015, which we see for the first time in these new spy shots. The new Sedona isn't going to look as much like the 2011 KV7 Concept as we had hoped, but we definitely see some key styling cues from the Kia concept minivan.
Even though it's covered in heavy camouflage, we can see that some of the KV7's cues on the 2015 Sedona include the vertical front marker lights, the horizontal taillights and the pinched beltline starting at the C-pillar. Kia's trademark Tiger Nose grille is present and accounted for, as is the telltale dip in the windshield.
All in all, the next-gen Sedona already looks to be a significant improvement over the current, generally boring model, which dates back to 2006 and has a striking resemblance to the Ford Freestar. There is no word yet as to what will power the 2015 Sedona, but our spy shooter said that this prototype was most likely powered by a 2.2-liter diesel.

Official: Audi first to bring LTE to the car later this year

It appears Audi will be the first to market with in-car LTE service later this year. We knew that BMW was working on LTE integration last year with its ConnectedDrive, and we've been told that, by the end of 2015, most General Motors products will have it, but LTE can be ordered on the S3 Sportback (pictured) as soon as July. Other models in the A3 line-up will add the option in November.
Inserting an LTE-enabled SIM card into the Audi's MMI navigation will make the S3 a WLAN hotspot that can quickly shuffle high-definition content from the cloud to the cockpit. It will also bolster Audi Connect services like Google Earth, Facebook and Twitter, e-mail, and streaming internet radio.
We've been told that we'll be offered the LTE option when the 2015 A3 sedan gets here in the spring of 2014. Mercedes believes title battle wide open
Mercedes believes that the world championship battle has been blown open after Lewis Hamilton's victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Hamilton's dominance at the hot Hungaroring pointed to Mercedes having made a big breakthrough in its understanding of the tyres, which might have also been helped by the new Pirelli construction suiting its car better. Although team principal Ross Brawn would not go as far as declaring that the outfit's tyre woes were now a thing of the past, he does think that the potential was there for it to pull off similar performances in the races to come

Official: Ford shows off V8-powered Ranger headed to Dakar Rally

Avert your eyes now if you're jealous that the global version of the Ford Ranger is not offered in the US. Ford's midsize pickup is being tuned up to take on the 2014 Dakar Rally, and the result is a truck that is probably even cooler than any F-150 SVT Raptor we've ever seen in the States. Ford is actually building two versions of the truck for Dakar, which will run from January 5 through January 18, covering more than 5,000 miles from Argentina to Chile.
Starting with a fully composite body and a 5.0-liter V8 plucked from a Mustang, nearly every aspect of the trucks have been purpose built to take on the grueling race. This includes things like the six-speed sequential gearbox, liquid-cooled rear brakes and the 132-gallon fuel tank. As proof that Dakar is more about endurance than speed, the engines used in these race trucks will be limited to around 350 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, and will max out at a top speed of just 105 miles per hour. Video: World's Most Expensive Motorcycle has frame made from gold

This motorcycle embraces two very different dynamics. On the one hand, it's quite possibly the most expensive motorcycle ever built, with some experts speculating that the frame alone is worth $1 million. On the other hand, it looks old and beaten up, like a steampunk MadMax.
Designed by an extremely wealthy Turkish motorcycle fan, Tarhan Telli, the basics are include an 1801cc V-Twin with 125 horsepower, a six-speed transmission and a 700-pound curb weight. But what makes it special, aside from the frame that's made entirely from gold, is the artistry. As Motorcycle explains, Telli wanted high-end materials, like the gold, but wasn't looking for something shouty, opting for worn materials with interesting patinas. So, basically, he commissioned a bike with a frame made from gold, but didn't want it to be too loud, so he went to further lengths to obscure the gold finish. This may be the world's biggest humblebrag.
Telli has approached the Guinness Book of World Records to get his one-off creation certified as the world's most expensive motorcycle. He isn't revealing what it cost him to build, but if he spent a million bucks on the frame, we'd expect the entire bike might be a few times that. Scroll down for the video.

Valentino Rossi recently invited Supermoto World Champion Thomas Chareyre and road-racing icon Guy Martin to go dirtbiking at his private track - and, for the first time, let a film crew in to capture it all on video.
Talk about a home track advantage, Rossi says owning the course, which he bought near his home in Tavullia, Italy three years ago, was one of his childhood dreams. It's made of a thin layer of gravel on top of a concrete base, a dirtbike-friendly surface that promotes fat powerslides. As competitive as he is in the MotoGP series, the nine-time World Champion says that riding at his track in the countryside is all about having fun - he never goes alone, always with friends.
