Kevin Mirocha secured his maiden F2 pole position in qualifying for the first race of the weekend in Hungary. In a session where the top three were covered by a mere 0.125s, the Pole just edged out championship challengers Markus Pommer and Matheo Tuscher to take the top spot. After topping both the Friday practice sessions fourth place was all that Alex Fontana could manage, affected by a string of yellow flags around the circuit, with Mihai Marinescu in fifth place.
